Our camps are truly unique experiences and encompass all of the fun and excitement that people have come to expect from Mad Science. Campers create, build and assemble a variety of take-home projects while exploring how science affects the world around us. Children have so much fun that they forget they’re learning!
2016 Summer Camp Themes
For children entering 1st-6th grade in Fall '16:
Inventor & Explorers (*New this year!*): Creative Contraption Warning! This is a camp designed by our own creative inventors! Each day campers will be given a series of challenges which must be overcome using basic materials, simple machines, tips from world famous inventors and the most important thing of all… their mind. With a little bit of ingenuity they'll construct catapults and forts and then lay siege, fabricate innovative flying contraptions, design their own gizmo prototypes, and will even assemble a working Light Saber to take home. While Thomas Edison said invention is 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration, this camp is 100% fun!
REACTIONS IN ACTION(*New this year!*): See what you can do with science! Conduct some crazy chemistry with batteries, chemical clocks and more! Have a “whorl” looking at your fingerprints! Discover the amazing world of DNA! Make some icky “brain goo!” Bone up on your knowledge of our skeletons! Travel the amazing organ trail! Use your forensic skills to solve the “Great Cookie Caper!”
SPY ACADEMY: Become a Mad Science secret spy and take a fascinating journey into the world of detection, forensics and classified information. Go undercover and decode messages from other agents using your top secret clearance. Join the Mad Science Bureau of Investigation and sniff out forgeries and counterfeits.
For children entering 1st-3rd grade in Fall '16:
BLAST OFF/ROBOTICS COMBO: Your Jr. Mad Scientist will enjoy a week full of Rocketry and Robotics. From our Earth’s atmosphere to the outer reaches of our solar system, this hands-on program sends children on a quest for exploration! Comets, planets, stars and more are all waiting to be discovered. Learn about the four forces of flight, the challenges of space travel, and explore the science involved in rocket construction as you build your own Skyblazer II Rocket™! Explore circuits & electricity, robotic sensors, gears & advanced robotic applications. Play with different robots types while exploring their future capabilities. Investigate robotic fundamentals & build a robot to take home! What creative camper will design tomorrow’s future robots?
SUPER DUPER SAMPLER: Survey the wonderful world of science! Use Morse code to send secret messages to your friends! Get a taste for space launching a water bottle rocket! Test Earth’s soil for signs of life! Experiment with space suit design! Discover solutions for pollution! Use solar power to bake yourself some nachos! Grow claws and jaws to feed your appetite!
For children entering 4th -6th grade in Fall '16:
ADVANCED ROBOTICS: Join us for a week of fun with robots. Learn about the uses of robots in our world. Spend time playing with super-cool red-hot robots. Use your skills to build your very own working robot to take home to “live” with you. Join us this summer in our Mad Science robot world.
For children entering Pre-K - K (4 & 5yr olds):
Monday-Friday 9:00-12:00pm. Being held at Cool Bean indoor playground & café in Downtown Gardens, PBG.
My First Lab: Become a junior Mad Scientist! This camp is a great introduction to science. Preschoolers explore their five senses through hands-on discovery. Children use a magnifying glass to discover the world of creepy crawly creatures. Explore the science of the sea and the fascinating creatures that live there. Campers become paleontologists by searching for fossils and participating in a mini dinosaur dig. Finally, take an exciting mission with Mad Science to explore the planets, moons and stars. Take home projects include a rainbow catcher, binoculars, bug box, T-Rex tooth model and more!
LETS GET GROWING (*New this year): Mad Science invites you to play in the garden in this exciting camp! Dissect soil and seeds. Investigate the sun, wind, and rain. Make your own sun visor. Explore living plants and leaves and discover the art of rubbings. See and make some bugs and ladybugs and creepy crawlers. Explore the life of a caterpillar. Finally, make a mural of the garden with your fellow campers.
Summer Camps run: 9am-3pm, Monday-Friday, 10 weeks throughout the summer (June 6-Aug 12) in Jupiter, Palm Beach Gardens (Cool Beans), Royal Palm Beach, Boca Raton (Monkey Joe’s) and Coral Springs (Monkey Joe’s).
