Laura Silver, the author of Knish: In Search of the Jewish Soul Food, will speak at the Mandel JCC, Palm Beach Gardens at 4 p.m. and at Temple Shaarei Shalom in Boynton Beach at 6:30 p.m. When Silver’s favorite knish shop went out of business in 2005, she embarked on a worldwide search for the origins and modern-day understanding of the knish. With good humor, Silver reveals her findings of the knish.

Both events, dubbed “Chopshticks,” include a Chinese dinner, a Christmas day tradition in many Jewish households. The cost is $36 per person. Silver is a an award-winning journalist whose writing on food and culture has appeared in The New York Times, The Forward, The Jerusalem Report and on NPR.
